About Jeremy
I'm Jeremy
If you have stayed on my webpage long enough to get to this page, that means you are probably curious as to what type of person I am. You might be thinking something along the lines of, “Will this guy be able to help me?” or “Does he know what he’s doing?” “Is he going to care about me and my struggles?”
I made the decision to become a therapist in 2012 after my marriage nearly fell apart. We were in crisis and needed immediate help. Because of our location at the time and since this was before the era of virtual therapy, we quickly discovered that help would be slow in coming as the 2 closest therapy offices had a 2-3 month wait period. We were desperately in need of help and could not afford to wait. It was these early moments of anxiety and stress with both the marriage crisis and the inability to find help that would later motivate me to go back to school to become a therapist.
Education and Experience
I started my Master’s education in 2015 at the former Argosy University in Sarasota. In the very last semester of my program, Argosy shut down and I was transferred to National Louis University in Tampa. Despite the anxiety and stress with this situation out of my control, I went on to graduate with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. The anxiety and stress of not knowing what was going to happen has prepared me for those seeking treatment who are also dealing with anxiety, stress and other emotions.
After graduation, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. Initially, I planned to focus on anxiety and depression in general. However, during the COVID pandemic, I discovered that relational distress sky-rocketed especially related to sexual compulsive behaviors and infidelity. I went on to get training as a Certified Sex Addictions Therapist (CSAT) and later a Certified Couples Betrayal Recovery Therapist (CCBRT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). In June 2025, I completed my Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy at the IFS institute.
Personal Story
I experienced a lot of trauma in my childhood, from the death of my mother around my 12th birthday to my father changing from a loving to an abusive person. I developed relational and emotional coping mechanisms as a way of surviving this change. While these strategies helped me early on, the strategies later became destructive in my close relationships, especially my marriage.
Through my own journey of therapy, I have done a lot of trauma work. I have done EMDR therapy to desensitize the experiences of abuse from my father and to reprocess the faulty core beliefs I had developed. Through my own therapy, I have begun the journey of moving from simply surviving to thriving. It is through my personal story that I have developed the passion to help my clients also move from simply surviving to thriving.
I know what it is like to experience the pain associated with feeling unheard, unseen, and invalidated. I also know what it is like to have a counselor see, hear, and validate me. Therefore, it is my priority to see, hear, and validate my clients. I believe that if my clients feel seen, heard, and validated, they will be more likely to find the motivation to make the changes they desire to make.
